UNESCO World Heritage Marine Programme
The mission of the UNESCO World Heritage Marine Programme is to establish effective conservation of existing and potential marine areas of Outstanding Universal Value to ensure that they will be maintained and thrive for generations to come. The goals of the Programme are to enable World Heritage marine sites effective management, create an international network of World Heritage marine sites as well as a site managers’ network.
There are currently 50 marine sites participating in the Programme – among them the Wadden Sea World Heritage. The Trilateral Wadden Sea Cooperation works closely together with the Programme direction and has established contacts to other marine sites using this network.
